The Caring for Women Program
December 3-6, 2009 - East Boothbay, ME
As midwives we continually strive to help women give birth over intact perineums and prevent unnecessary cesarean sections. However, in some instances women sustain tears during birth, and some women and their babies need cesarean delivery.
Nell offers indepth courses covering the knowledge and skills midwives need to be most effective at being "with woman" no matter how women bring their babies into the world.
Midwives are expected to be experts at assessing for lacerations after childbirth, and performing skilled repair of perineal lacerations. The "Suturing Skills" series of workshops hones the midwife's existing suturing skills while introducing new techniques.
For women undergoing cesarean delivery, having a midwife as the surgical first assistant provides continuity of care, and the assurance that their midwife is watching over them during the procedure. The "First Assisting with Cesarean" workshop provides hospital-based midwives the education needed for a mentored clinical experience assisting with cesarean.
Join Nell in an atmosphere of fellowship and support for one or more of these exciting workshops: knot-tying, suturing, perineal repair, first assisting with cesarean.
